Is anybody here totally alone in this world? I mean no relatives, no blood connections.

Asked by ZEPHYRA (21750points) December 23rd, 2010

Perhaps you have friends that you consider to be your family, but is anybody out there really without anyone in this life? Do you ever panic when you think deeply about it?

You’re only ever as alone as you permit yourself to feel. A close friend of mine is pushing me out of his life because he is convinced he doesn’t have anyone. To hell he doesn’t: I’d be at his side in a heartbeat if he’d fucking let me.

There is always someone out there who will help you. Even if you’ve lost your family, friends, your own sense of self: someone out there is willing to drop everything to protect you, love you, get you back on your feet.

No one is truly alone. Not in a city full of vagabonds nor a desert full of sand.

I’ve been thinking about this all year.

@muppetish thank you for your answer. I really like your last part about vagabonds and the desert.

@muppetish Not everyone has people willing to help. Not every lonely person is lonely because they choose to be. All of my distant relatives are deceased. Most of my family is deceased as well except for my mom, aunt, cousin (who lives away) and two sisters (which I’m not close with). All of my close friends (the few I had) are deceased as well. Efforts to try to get close to people don’t always work out.

I know some people who don’t have anyone at all. Some people who are alone do choose to be alone but there are other lonely people who wish they had someone in their lives that cared about them. Unfortunately not everyone gets the same hand dealt to them in life. I’ve said this statement so many times because it is so true: “One thing you can’t be gauranteed in life is avoiding loneliness, people will either accept you for who you are or they won’t”.
