How do I add old ebooks to my iPad?

I got an iPad for Xmas, and I have tons of ebooks from my Kindle and in other formats. How do I add them to my iPad so that I can read them on it?

Get the Kindle app for iPad, add iPad to your Amazom Kindle account; then you can download the ebooks from Amazon directly to your iPad.

An app like Goodreader will let you load and read many formats, but you still must use iTunes.
