I am wondering if anyone knows if you can make hot dogs and sauer kraut in advance and freeze it for use at a later time?

The answer to the question is yes. but more importantly, I think you are asking whether or not they will taste good later and not cause food poisoning. I would think that if you wrap it properly and freeze it, it could be good for a few months. its all in the way that you heat them back up.

For the hot dogs…throw it into boiling water until tender.

For the kraut. I’m not familiar with kraut preparation, so I’ll defer to another flutherer. But if I had to guess, you could probably throw it in the microwave for a minute or less after thawing.

I would just run the kraut under warm water (in it’s bag or jar).

It should be fine. You can freeze just about anything.

Wouldn’t a cooked hot dog taste rubbery? They are really easy to do at the last minute – broiled, pan-sautéed, grilled, or boiled.

They taste fine once reheated but as gail said just cook them as needed its quick and easy.
