I've been having lower abdominal cramps does anyone have any ideas why?

Asked by xMissMorganx (191points) January 26th, 2011

So, i’ve been having lower abdominal cramps, but nothing like period cramps. They are kindof faint and soft, but still there. It’s on both sides and it’s just weird to me. I’m not taking birthcontrol have been off it since my last period which was the 10th of this month. I have no clue what it could be any ideas? I have been “active” but only once since my last period. I do have UTI infection at this moment, so it might be a cause of that. Any ideas? Please comment..

Any chance you might have fibroids or endometriosis? Both cause some discomfort (potentially) in this area.
OR, could be ovulation. Some people swear they feel vaguely “crampy” at ovulation..

I dont think I have fibroids or endometriosis. Ovulation causes “crampy” feelings?

This could be a number of things. You could be ovulating. You could have pelvic inflammatory disease. You could have something going on with your ovaries. Or you could be pregnant. The very first symptom I had was mild cramps when I was only a couple weeks pregnant. This could be too many things for a website to be very helpful. Call a doctor asap.

Thank you. That was very helpful. Kindof worried to go to the doctor. I hate going to the doctor. I’m always terrified of what they have to say… But thank you :)

Speaking as someone who has done over 1000 colonoscopies and several hundred appendectomies there is NO WAY anybody can diagnose your lower abdominal pains anonymously over the internet. Chances are what anybody says here is wrong and may give you either false reassurance or needless anxiety. The only way to tell is to go to an experienced physician or FNP and have them do a good history and physical.

@Rarebear

Yeah your right. I guess i’ll have to either ask my mom or go to the doctor.

That could be a possibility. I’m not sure. I dont kno I might take a test just to see. But, my period isn’t suppose to come for another 2 weeks or something. Might be too early to take a test dont you think?

Yes it is. to stay on the safe side try not to take any meds for anything in case that you are pregnant. Its definitely something to consider.
