I want to solder a sterling silver piece to a silver plated piece. Is this possible?

It’s risky. Silver plating will often blister at the temperatures used in silver soldering. Also, the pickling process that’s used to remove flux and discoloration after soldering will eat away at the plating.

Not the best solution, but try a 24 hour epoxy if there is a recess or hidden area. I second that the silver plate will peel at solder temps.

Thank you! I have a silver plated broach that I want to remove the pin back and attach rings so that I can make a necklace from. I may explore the epoxy or E-6000. I know it holds well.
