What is wrong with my ears?

Asked by DesireeCassandra (1140points) February 4th, 2011

I have had a cold for a few days, and this morning I woke up to find hives on my chest, itchy throat, and itchy ears! I have never felt an itch like this before, it’s inside of my ears. I don’t want to poke my ears with a qtip or anything, but it’s really driving me CRAZY! Has this ever happened to anyone? Any remedies? Anything would help.

Benadryl should help with the hives and the itching, but I would also recommend contacting your doctor.

My ears itch alot when I have an allergic reaction to something or when I have asthma….I take benadryl and like half an our later, everything goes away…

It sounds like an allergic reaction. Did you take any over-the-counter meds or eat anything unusual?

If the Benadryl does not clear it up ASAP, call your doctor.

Get yourself to a Dr or Urgent Care—- Symptoms like that with a fever can mean serious disease.

Safest way to take care of an inside ear itch is as follows: use your little finger and stick it in one of your ears. turn your head to whichever finger you are using and shake vigorously. this works for me with hearing aids.

Inside itchy ears can have several meanings. the most obvious is an allergy. like the others have said, take a Benadryl and see if this helps.

@xjustxxclaudiax – yeah, you take enough benadryl, and everything goes away!
