How much kWh does a Laundromat use Monthly/Annually?

Asked by livingchoice (553points) February 11th, 2011

I would like to know EXACTLY, as close as possible, how much kWh of electricity does a laundromat use per month and/or annually. And what are other hight watt using stores?

Wow, lots of variables to consider: Gas or electric dryers, volume of business, newer or older machines, etc. Here’s a worksheet that might help you.

@thorninmud – LoL, what a confusing page. But thanks it was helpful. I gues I’m looking for someone who owns a laundromat on Fluther :O) and could tell me, by looking at their last/current bill, what the average total kWh they used for a month was.

In your oppnion would you say it was at least 1,667 kWh per month or is that too high?

The next time you’re in a laundromat, find a power rating (measured in Watts) somewhere on one of the machines. Estimate the number of machine-hours used each day, and multiply the two values. This will give the number Watt-hours used each day. Then multiply by 30 and divide by 1000 to get the monthly kWh usage.

Or ask an attendant if you’re curious enough.

Exactly? How many machines, how many overhead lights, are the machines energy efficient, there are way too many variables to answer your question.
