California residency and schooling...

Asked by simone54 (7629points) April 16th, 2008

I just moved California back October (got my driver license in November), anyway, I know you can go to school for cheap after you are a resident for one year. So, it will be one year this coming November. Will be able to just pay the cheap price for school (school starts in Sept) since my one year will be up in the middle of a school term??

No you will get the in state tution price the following Spring semester if they go “by the book.” It also depends on the school some might make an exception or pro rate it. If your talking about a UC or CSU your probably going to have to wait until next Spring.

I agree, but if you want to double check and be sure then go to the school and talk to someone. I am sure they will give you all the answers. If you have to wait for next spring then you can probably fill out the application and prepare yourself for the spring.

High school or college?
I’ve heard that community colleges are pretty flexible with costs (and they are fairly cheap anyway). You can always consider transferring from a community college to a CSU or UC. What city do you live in? Community colleges are not equal.

I live in San Diego.

I just need to take few classes required for Nursing School.
