I think that for some people it has taught them “How” to search. If you give your link, and say “I found this with a simple google search!” Then they might get the picture.

gooch's avatar

No I don’t use Fluther for that. I still Google my searches.

I Love Fluther! I still Google stuff all the time though.

I think Wikipedia has made people lazy to do web research on their own

@Fallstand:
Awesome, I forgot all about Wikipedia. You have a point there.

@judo: No, I don’t quite get what you are asking…..Fluther.com/Wikipedia has made people too lazy etc”? Is that what you mean?

@gailcalled: Do YOU FEEL that FLUTHER.COM has MADE PEOPLE LAZY to do web research on their own?

Do you personally feel that Fluther.com has made some people a little lazy in regards to searching for things on their own? I personally love searching the net, it makes me feel like a superstar when I find something out of the way.

A fair question; “a little lazy” works. I agree that some fluthers are lazy. However, there are times when I can’t find a good site and someone else can. I agree that finding what you are looking for is satisfying…

Nope.

@judochop: Do you feel that Fluther.com has made YOU lazy?

judochop's avatar

@babygalll:
Nope, not at all. If anything it has made me more active in search for answers.

I think we’ve just seen an influx of lazy people.

jcs007's avatar

It hasn’t made me lazy.

On a side note, can someone link me to Google’s site?

judochop's avatar

@jcs007:
www.google.com

Cheers!!

No, but I do believe that it shows that people are interested more in dialogue, which is something that pure Web research doesn’t truly offer. Feedback through pure Web research is done through linking, which isn’t necessarily conducive to finding what you’re after, nor necessarily to critical thinking. Feedback is what you get when you Fluther.

Thanks judo!

Now, can someone click the link for me?

scamp's avatar

I still do my own. But this person obviously doesn’t.

I still do my own searches, but I also often find the extra information provided with most answers to be more helpful than what I found via Google. These answers are also much more entertaining than a list of blue underlined links.
