I need to use the NCR class 5932 keyboard on Windows 7 and XP?

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) March 11th, 2011

I just found and old NCR class 5932 keyboard, and was wondering what I need to use it on Windows 7 and Windows XP. I want to have full functionality including the magstripe reader. Are there some programs that I can use to do this?

Have you looked at NCR’s 5932 page? I was surprised to see an update from ‘09.

Have you plugged it in yet? I imagine you’ll need a driver for the card reader but… maybe not. At least one device I’ve seen read the card and had the keyboard ‘type’ out the numbers. So, as long as you had something with input capabilities with focus (like Notepad or whatever), the numbers would show up there.

It all works, but I tried everything and when I swipe a card nothing happens.
