How can I get my itunes music on my new computer?

Asked by lbwhite89 (1213points) March 18th, 2011

I have iTunes set up on my laptop but I recently bought a desktop to use instead. How can I get my iTunes library with all my songs on the new computer so it’ll come up when I plug in my iPod?

it should install as soon as you plug your ipod into the new computer (at least it did for me)

Is this Windows or Mac?

It’s Windows. I plugged in my iPod and downloaded iTunes. I authorized this computer and it downloaded all but 22 songs. Those were the ones I didn’t buy, but downloaded for free. I guess I’ll just have to download them again.

@lbwhite89 Itunes saves it’s music in documents and setting (or users on win 7)\user ID\my documents\music so you should be able to copy it from there.

What I did was to enable “household sharing,” and then had one download from the other.

If the songs are already on your iPod, it should just give you the option to transfer your songs to the new computer when you plug it in. If they’re not on your iPod and you want them, you can just plug it into the old computer and put them on and then transfer them.
