How long would it take to grow my hair?

Asked by Eggie (5921points) March 19th, 2011

I am a guy that is not bald but I have a really low cut. I am thinking about growing my hair and putting it into plats. I am thinking how long should I wait to do this…I am a negro by the way and I was thinking about 4 months…but also what do I do in the mean while to make it grow long.

Hair grows about ¼–½ an inch per month. Asian hair grows the quickest, then Caucasian, then Black. If you’re focused on growing healthy hair, you’ll want to make sure you diet is good and that you’re healthy.
So, in four months, your hair will probably have grown about 1–2 inches.

@Facade will it be long enough then to have it like yours in your pic?

Sure, but it’ll be shorter

so it should be about 5 months then…and whilst we are on the subject…do girls like guys with hair like that? I am a little lighter than you…I have the same complexion of T.I and light brown eyes.

In my opinion, I don’t think guys should wear their hair long unless it’s in locs. I like dark caesars on men =)
Taking can of hair like ours can get complicated and frustrating if you don’t have the time to devote to it. My boyfriend wore his hair “long” like this for about a month, but cut it because it took too much work to maintain.
So if you’re will to put in the work, go for it. If not, stick with what you have. Nappturality is a great place for information and advice.

Well, I’m Asian and as Facade said, it grows the quickest. It’s quite true, at least for me lol. My hair grows pretty fast, and so one day my hairstylist said it’s because I consume a lot of protein in my diet.

Not sure if the protein thing is true though :)
