Tear duct in my right eye feels weird?

Asked by Moegitto (2310points) March 27th, 2011

For about a week or so, my tear duct in my right eye feels weird. It feels like it’s clogged (from what I’ve read online already), but there’s no redness, no discharge, no swelling, no extra tears, no pain, no tenderness or any of the systems of a clogged tear duct. I was wondering if anybody had any experience with remedying this.

PS: I didn’t notice if my tear production as changed any, in either eye, when I massage the duct area, it kinda relieves the pressure alittle. It might be allergies, but I don’t know…

Can you go and get your tear ducts flushed out? If it is clogged, that should solve the problem.

@Mz_Lizzy Flushed out? Please explain!

A doctor can flush fluid through your tear ducts to get rid of any blockage. I had eye surgery last year and afterward my eyes would stream (which is actually a symptom of dry eyes) so my eye doctor flushed out my tear ducts with saline. I am sure your local GP could do it. It took a few minutes.

You could have a small sty near the location. It might be in the lymph system under the skin. The skin here is very thin so you need to be careful with it. Have you tried putting a warm cloth on the eye for a few minutes a couple of times a day? If it’s a sty your immune system to be able to take care of it, but you only get one set of eyes, so I’d have a doctor look at it if it gets any worse or doesn’t go away.
