What is up with this question (see details)?

I clicked on one of the related questions that Fluther oh-so-casually offers whilst one is answering a similar query, and I found this question. Now, what is odd about this question is that there are several users who answered it whose lurve score is 1, compounded by the fact that this is the only question they ever answered. So, as analytical and bored as I am at the moment, I am trying to figure out if this is a coincidence, or if someone perhaps set up a few different accounts so they could monopolize the question (why they would waste their time doing so, I haven’t a clue).

I have seen other instances like this when browsing early Fluther questions, like this one, in which a new user pops up just to post a link that sends the OP to a site that advertises a lucid dreaming kit. It made me wonder if the asker and the solicitous answerer were the same person, or if that answerer was actually a spammer.

What do you all think, and have you seen other instances of this on Fluther, especially in the early years?

In this particular case (the Q you linked), my bet is on the fact that all the one-lurve people participating found the Q via Google and signed up just to chime in on that question. I have seen this in numerous older questions over the years. For whatever reason, the noobs don’t usually stick around, so it’s like a ghost town of n00bs.

In addition to that, there are spam ‘teams’, where one will sign up, ask a set-up question, then another account will come in with the spam link.

Then, of course, we have the random spammers that find us via a Google search and post on a (semi-)related question. Then others that, I assume, find us through other means and spam indiscriminately on random Qs. Lastly, there are the elusive profile spammers, which create accounts but never participate in questions, they solely post their spam in their profiles.

Thanks, MissA! You pretty much confirmed my suspicions on a couple of counts!

P.S.- not dead yet!~

Both of your links have posts that make me wince – I’m so happy for the newer guidelines!

If you’re ever on here late at night, you can actually catch some of those questions going on. It’s pretty funny. I stay up very late and see some weird shit going on.
