How much does a drink cost in Russia?

I have a co-worker that works in Russia while I work in the US. I'd like to "buy him a beer" but obviously can't do that in person. How much does a drink cost at a normal bar in Russia?

This depends on whether your friend is in Moscow or beyond the Urals. In Moscow drinks at a nice restaurant or club can be as much as $5-6 US. Off the shelf or in the provinces you could buy a half liter of good vodka for as little as $1 US.
