Are Minnesota property tax refund applications due a year after their due date of August 15th?

I am trying to figure out if I read the information right.

It depends on your local law.

In MN, you have until 8/15 to apply for a 2010 refund, if that’s what you’re asking. I usually do mine along with my MN taxes, but you do get 4 months longer for property taxes than for state and Federal, at least in MN.

I actually found out that they want the property/renter refund by the 15th of Aug. but you have a year more for the true deadline for some reason…

I never heard that, but it’s probably like an automatic extension.
