What is a good place to study near LAX Airport?

Asked by anonyjelly16 (747points) May 3rd, 2008 from iPhone

I am taking a class that runs from 11AM to 3PM on weekdays for two months. It will be conducted near LAX Airport.

Do you know of a good (i.e. quiet) place to study early in the day and until late in the evening near LAX?

If the place has free or nominal parking costs, that would be an added bonus!

Thanks!

The best place to study is LAX itself. There are some restaurants and coffee shops there. Besides LAX is open 24/7 so is pretty quiet at night, plus you could enjoy a tasty coffee with a carrot muffin. Also there seats on some dead end halls with little traffic. Parking is secured and well lit, plenty of clean restrooms available for you to leave all your worries behind.

I was hoping for something more conventional such as a library, etc.

This is the best room rates I could get for a fairly nice and safe hotel and a Library in a safe neighborhood. Both of these places are near where your class will be

Playa Vista Libray
6400 Playa Vista Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90094 – (310) 437–6680
Mon. 10–8, Tue. Noon-8, Wed. 10–8, Thu. Noon-8, Fri. 10–6, Sat. 10–6, Sun. Closed

Is this a cram course for the bar exam? What a schedule…11:00PM to 3:00AM. I do hope that you are a night person. It sounds nightmarish to me, but good luck, anyway.

@GailCalled: No its from 11AM to 3PM.

Right. I am not paying attention. That certainly makes more sense.

Another library branch that I think is even closer than Playa Vista is the

Westchester – Loyola Village Branch Library
7114 W. Manchester Avenue
Los Angeles, 90045

Here are the hours is is open:

Mondays 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
Tuesdays Noon – 8:00 pm
Wednesdays 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
Thursdays Noon – 8:00 pm
Fridays 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Saturdays 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Sunday CLOSED

It is on the corner of Lincoln and Manchester and Lincoln runs right into LAX at the point. It also has the advantage of being kitty corner across the street from the OTIS school of design where you can usually find a safe place to study after the librairies close. And it has a nice little inexpensive crepe/coffee place that is just a bit further down Lincoln (and lots of other restaurants nearby as well) :

Kc’s Cafe
8320 Lincoln Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90045–2466
Phone: (310) 348–9697

Here is a link to a map of the library-which is almost right on the runway :)
