Jailbreak or wait till the June update?

Asked by Theotherkid (889points) May 8th, 2008 from iPhone

I have a 1.1.4 iPod touch with the January software upgrade. Should I jailbreak it or wait till the June update? June isn’t that far away, but I’m getting impatient and have never jailbroken my ipod before. Jailbreaking sounds really cool, but I don’t want to mess up my iPod.

I’ve had my ipod touch since January and I’m still waiting for the June update, I would have jailbroken it but… i haven’t really wanted to all that bad, and come June I really don’t think I’ll use it much more because of the apps, yes it will be nice because it’s not an iPhone and I can’t just get on edge whenever there is no wifi around, but remember that jailbraking .. well actually there isn’t anything that takes away from it, although it is a process that isn’t exactly the easiest (some have tried to make it easier but most have failed), it just depends on what you want to do with it honestly, jailbroken has much more stuff than the June update will, however there are things like the accelerometer that jailbraking doesn’t take in, it might by ver 2.0, but for games it doesn’t have that, while the June update games will have accelerometer use….
we’ll see

The June update I’m sure will be cool but as good as as a jailbroken phone or touch I’m betting not.. Jailbreak it and if your not happy then just restore it.. Ok sure if you turn to the dark side you’ll like it.. The ziphone is pretty good for a one step.. Just youtube it and you’ll be on your way.. You won’t mess anything up and can restore at anytime..

Will the app store allow any applications similar to summerboard?

XCNuse's avatar

You mean the June update? I haven’t heard anything about anything similar to summerboard coming, I wouldn’t count on it until later versions maybe, who knows.. apple may surprise us (I highly doubt it though)

It would be cool though. :-)

Wait. Jailbreaking causes your i-pod to malfunction later on. Trust me I know, all my friends have and they regretted it. Wait until the apple approved version comes out. Trust me it’s going to be worth the wait.

If you still decide to jailbreak, make sure that you completely research the topic and that you’re willing to pay the consequences if it fails miserably and you destroy your iPod Touch.
