Why is it impossible to buy some old movies ?

Asked by Storybooklover (278points) November 4th, 2011

I would really like to buy Truly Madly Deeply but I looked it up n amazon and it’s like $119 for the dvd. Another example is the purple people eater from the 80s with the kid who played Doogie Houser I wanted to get that on dvd for my kids and they just dont make it… i bought the vhs version though.

Ebay is my go to source for old release DVDs if I feel we want a copy.

I have other sources but won’t list those online ;)

EDIT: Now we tend to wait for them to be relesed for streaming if we can. If we can’t then we obtain a copy.

They don’t produce old movies forever. No one buys them en masse like new movies.

I suggest that you look for them used.

Ooh, I have Truly Madly Deeply on VHS. I know it won’t last forever, though:-( I agree, look for it used.
