I have no clue. But isnt it the most annoying thing EVER?!? Like especially when demos can be up to 1.5–2GB i dont want to just sit around, let me play something while it downloads.

well, wierd thing is, some games, or demos, do continue, i think it has something to do with connecting to xbox live, i mean, when you’re downloading, you’re in no condition to play live right? i guess that’s the bottleneck

El_Cadejo's avatar

iwamoto what games still let you? Because ive played games that dont even have live but it still stops the dl.

Its becuase you cant use the guide in old xbox games.

I meant xbox games as in, xbox 360 games. Too lazy to say xbox 360 games when I could just say xbox games…. LOL

Okay, be specific. But in xbox games, its a broadband issue. It means it can’t do online play AND download games, and in some cases, just cant download games.

El_Cadejo's avatar

@fortris Yes that makes sense and all but it still cuts off if your attempting to play a non online game.

fortris's avatar

Nope, I just downloaded assault heros 2 WHILE playing GTA IV

El_Cadejo's avatar

@fortris hmmm how about that. I dont really understand then. Do you think its possible that all games would cancel the dl but microsoft finally saw their problem and made it so new games wouldnt do this?

SquirrelEStuff's avatar

You can download and play at the same time. However, if you play multiplayer, it will stop the download and continue after you are done with multiplayer.

fortris's avatar

Nope, because it stops after you play Halo 3 regardless if you are playing multiplayer or not.

El_Cadejo's avatar

Well then why in the hell does it work for some games but not others?

fortris's avatar

I dunno, try looking at microsoft’s website.

El_Cadejo's avatar

AHAHAHAH look to microsoft for support what are you mad!?!? ill never find the answer that way. :P

fortris's avatar

Meh, it doesn’t concern me anyway.

Personally I think it;s because the game reverts all of the bandwidth into playing the game online.
that way the download must be stopped.
You could just turn on “continue downloads after console is turned off” and then your downloads will always be downloaded for the next time you turn your xbox on.
