What does Queen Elizabeth carry in her purse?

Asked by AstroChuck (37609points) May 20th, 2008 from iPhone

In an earlier question I had about the british monarchy’s power, kevbo stated that the Queen is the only UK citizen not required to have a driver’s license. That got me thinking what it could be that she carries in that purse she always has with her.

Corgie treats.

@benseven – is that a joke or have you heard that. It makes sense when she’s walking them. Not sure she’d carry them to official visits, though.

Her iPhone!

It is a well known secret that she carries around a deck of playing cards.

@wildflower- I’d love to see what she’d have on her iPod. “Queen” or maybe “Queenryche”? Probably no “Parliament” though.

Sex Pistols’ version of God Save the Queen, for sure!

And possibly House of Lords

But there’s no getting around, she must have ABBA – Dancing Queen!

From the Unofficial Royal Family Pages:

Q. What does the Queen keep in her handbag?

A. The Queen carries a comb, a handkerchief, a small gold compact, and a tube of lipstick on her handbag. Most people think that the Queen never carries money. This is not true… The Queen does carry money on Sunday’s (sic) – a folded note of unknown denomination, which she discretely (sic) places in the collection plate when she goes to church.

Thanks Marina, I guess. I was kind of enjoying all the speculation but you went and killed that. Seriously, great answer. Always wondered. Still, I hope wildflower is right about the iPod.

what they don’t know, is that she’s got a secret compartment in her purse were she puts her weeeed in.

@AstroChuck Definitely did not mean to kill the buzz. Sorry. Who really knows unless they have X-ray vision? What is interesting to me is how much an object of speculation this question is. There are long threads on this topic on many forums for asking questions all over the world.

..an extra toothbrush- just in case (wink wink). You know what I’m sayin’!

AstroChuck's avatar

Not sure what Prince Philip would think about that.

wildflower's avatar

He probably wouldn’t think anything too profound….. http://listverse.com/humor/top-15-quotes-of-prince-philip/

wildflower, I never realized what a comedian he is. The movie “The Queen” made him out to be an ass with no sense of humor.

AstroChuck's avatar

Sorry. I guess that should be “humour.”

wildflower's avatar

It’s OK, I just add the u’s mentally as I read :)

I don’t think he always intends to be comical, but he causes a few giggles….

AstroChuck's avatar

shits and giggles.

It’s a tradition in Europe for Queens to marry men with questionable social skills and eloquence. Another example is the Danish Prince Henrik – I can’t find a list of quotes, but I still remember when he was caught by the newsteam coming out of a football (soccer) match and when asked what he thought, he responded ‘good movie’.
