Nope. (Spoiler): Mutt picked up the hat, but Indy took it back. I think that is symbolic of “this is the end”.

I disagree to a certain extent. I don’t really want a sequel, but that left it open. Even though Indy retrieved it, (Spolier) Henry Jones III had it for a second, and the wind blew it to his feet. It’s open, but I can’t see a kid who played on Even Stevens in that role.

as for me I agree with the theory how the hat blows in to the kid. Hmmm. Maybe? By the way we are talking about a Lucas Speilberg film. The Kings of sequels

Personally, I was happy Mutt didn’t don the fedora.

Lucas has said he wants a Shia Indy but Spielberg hasn’t agreed to it.

what woulvde happened if the hat fell into the ant pit? that would have destroyed every possibility of a sequel. also, why wasnt the whip used that much? it was used like twice the entire movie.
what i think is that mutt already gained interest, and will go back to school. maybe there will be something about indie bringing the entire class out (“in order to be a great archeaologist, you have to go out of the library” in the motorcycle scene) and they get endangered somehow.
