Why can't I get the drum kit on my MacBook Pro that is installed with the iPad?

The drum machine in iPad GarageBand far exceeds that of the one in GarageBand for Apple iMacs and Macbooks, why is this?

The iPad is a touch screen device, the iMac isn’t so obviously the input would be different. But I’d say the desktop version has better drums as there are more playable notes/drum hit samples
