What quality do you like most about yourself and why?

Asked by KeepYourEyesWideOpen (345 points ) January 14th, 2013

Speaking for myself, I like my open-mindedness, because I’ve realized over the years that it’s strangely rare to see these days because so many people are close-minded to things that they aren’t used to or that’s difficult to grasp on an intellectual level.

What’s yours ?

I express to you my deepest admiration, respect and heartfelt thanks.

My ability to rise to challenges.

I’m empathetic and a good listener. It has always been easy for me to make friends, and I have been a confidant of others since I was a child. I think these qualities also help me as a teacher.

I like that I can see a lot about a situation or a person very quickly and my brain works to connect disparate things together.

I’m kind and generous.

I like that I am compassionate. My boyfriend says I am too kind to people and get very little in return but I consider that to be a strength not a weakness.

I am organized and dependable. I like that about me because most people I know are not.

I like that I’ve managed to find a way not to kill myself. That’s a big deal. Huge, really.

Not that it would be a big deal to anyone else, but it is to me, my wife, my kids, and a couple of other people, I think.

@wundayatta : It’s huge indeed. I am glad you are still kickin, man.

@wundayatta I second what @bookish1 says. You kick too much ass to commit suicide. Don’t be doing that shit. and if you do, when I die, my ghost is gonna kick YOUR ghost’s ass, and you better believe it.

Hmm. @Symbeline, I said I’d found a way not to do it. I do not want to do and have no intention of doing it. It’s just something that I like about myself. I was able to figure out how to fight it off at the last moment. I talk about it a lot not because I am thinking of doing it, but because I need to remember what I went through, and to keep it from ever getting that close again. So please don’t worry. It’s a good sign that I made it. I talk about it, but not because I am close to doing it. It’s to keep it far away.
