If I should tell my buddy, who has told me his yoga instructor wife has become less physically expressive in his marriage, tells me his wife is offering reiki yoga touching classes, that his wife is cheating on him.

That my belly and boobs impede my ability to do some poses. I am very flexible, but also overweight. I have to modify poses because the proportions of my body just don’t permit me to move in some ways.

To any and all fitness professionals: please don’t underestimate me and my knowledge of nutrition, fitness and body mechanics because I am obese. Many of us who struggle with our weight are better informed than those with naturally athletic metabolisms, because we’re always looking for the answers.

@TheNakedHippie Will you be posting some answers to those questions? &/or are inviting answers from other yoga instructors? These are some good questions…

I have ever attended a yoga class where the instructor had excessive belly fat. I was curious about that because I assumed that he practiced yoga regularly and maintained a healthy lifestyle.

Yoga instructors aren’t perfect, and some of us are overweight. But a good yoga instructor has been trained well and can teach. Depending on their history of injuries (unrelated to yoga) an instructor might not actually be able to do some asanas, or get much exercise, so could have weight issues, but might be a perceptive and inspired guide.
