Can thermal paste freeze?

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) June 15th, 2013

So, I just got another core 2 quad (2.83ghz) so I want to swap it out for the one in my current desktop (2.4ghz), and my thermal compound was left in the garage over winter (going to around -30 C). Will that be a problem or is it fine?

Thermal paste uses silicone grease as the carrier, and silicone grease is perfectly freeze-stable. No worries.
