Help me understand how Kobe Bryant's achilles surgery works?

Asked by pleiades (6617points) October 14th, 2013

So from what I know is that Kobe Bryant had torn his achilles and received world class operation the best a multi millionaire could buy.

He said in a recent interview that he doesn’t think about his achilles when running and doing other drills. He reported no pain, soreness, etc. He did mention that he’s still stretching it out since there’s a period of time where let the achilles heal.

I’m just wanting to know, can it have been repaired and then stretched back into a “flexible” state that it once was? Or will it have a certain tightness threshold?

Chances of it tearing again?

He tore his Achilles tendon; here’s information about the injury, the surjery and the rehab.

Everything depends on the severity of the injury and the complexity of the surgery. It will certainly be more vulnerable now than a normal tendon.
