How many people are in my household?

Asked by hug_of_war (10735points) February 28th, 2014 from iPhone

I am filling out my fafsa. Do siblings and parents count in household size if you are considered an independant? Aka I live at home but have independant status

If you have independent status, then your household is “1”. You are acknowledging how many people you financially support throughout the year (in this case, just yourself), rather than who you share living quarters with.

Are you 26 or over? I recall that the FAFSA form gives a year and asks if you were born before or after that date, and if you were born after, you may not be considered “independent”.
