Do you remember the original Cosmos series from 1980? Did you know there will be a vintage marathon this weekend?

Asked by Buttonstc (27605points) March 8th, 2014 from iPhone

If you’d like to do a binge-watch this weekend, it will be on NGC (National Geographic Channel) beginning at noon today. Details in the link.

This is a prequel to the launch of the new updated version hosted by Neil D.Tyson and exec.-produced by Seth McFarlane and Carl Sagan’s widow among others.

I plan to DVR as well as watch both. What about you?

I will have to wait for the DVD. No cable, no satellite, no streaming.

Well, this is the old series beginning at noon today. I’m assuming that’s already on DVD or tape. I could be mistaken but I’m pretty sure it must be available somewhere but I’ll check.

The new series will air on both regular Fox TV (no cable required) as well as NGC.

The first episode of the new Cosmos airs its first episode on Sun. night at nine PM on Fox.

Yup. Its available on Amazon as well as the book, also by Carl Sagan.

And not a bad price for a 4 DVD set.

I remember it well and liked what I saw, but, at that stage in my life, I was not an avid watcher. I intend to correct that error with the new series.

Oh, you scared me for a second with the National Geographic channel, I don’t have cable.

I’m recording the new show off the air tomorrow night, thanks for reminding me!

I’ve had a copy of The Cosmos on my computer for a couple years now. Every so often I’ll go back and watch it.

Can’t wait to watch the new series.

I just discovered the Carl Sagan episodes are on YouTube, awesome!

Hey, thanks for that link. If I run out of room on the DVR, it’s so nice to know there’s a backup.

I never thought that would be possible without the MPAA crabbing about it and threatening a lawsuit but apparently Google deems it fair use for whatever reason.

I actually did some binge-watching of sorts back in the mid-80’s. I had been without a tv for several years, and found myself watching 2 or 3 episodes at a time at the library, in their new (at the time) A-V lab.

I think it’s one of the best TV series ever, and hope the new one will carry on in the same tradition.
