I seriously don't know what she means....?

Asked by blueberry_kid (5957points) April 17th, 2015

I tweeted my friend to find me a college boy before I get ready to move over there so that I’ll have a boy ready for me as a joke. I was seriously joking until she asked me what’s my type. Then she sent me a reply to my “only if he has nice hair and a personality” tweet saying “go twist an apple stem, tell me the letter you get.”

I have no idea what she means.

Anyone good at riddles?

I guess she means if you twist the stem and it forms a letter then that is to be the first letter of the name of your next beau.

Just a guess.

I’m not going to Google this, because the question is amusing and I want to guess.

I think it’s like the daisy game – you pluck petals, saying, “He loves me/He loves me not”. The last petal gives you the answer.

You twist the apple stem and it breaks on the right answer.

OOH duh, that makes sense, haha. Silly me.

What @JLeslie said. It’s an old grammar school game.

Yup, if she’s going shopping for you, she wants to be able to narrow it down by the first letter of his name. :)

LOL! We used to do this in our teens. Grab the stem, twist the apple, and with each turn, go down the alphabet: A, B, C, etc.

@dappled_leaves Let’s hope that she is just being witty.

The poor Zacharys and Zanders of the world…

@Uasal but the Zanders get to claim Alexander as well, surely.

Like @Pied_Pfeffer said: Grab the stem and with each twist, recite the alphabet. Whatever letter is recited when the stem comes off = the first letter of the boy’s name.

First or last name…it depends upon your twist (pun intended.) By the time I was twenty, I had been on a date with Aaron A., Bill B., Charlie C., David D., Edward E., Freddie F., Grayson G., and there the trend stopped. It had nothing to do with the apple test though.

Each twist is a different letter starting from A- until it breaks off and that will be the first letter of your future husbands name.

I thought you was suppose to twist it till it came off and then quickly say out loud the first letter that pops in your head. Or was that if you shaved the peel of an orange without it breaking?

We used to trip girls over who we fancied, if they bled, it was game on.
