What is your opinion on Isaac Hayes leaving the South Park series back in 2006?

Asked by NerdyKeith (5489points) March 11th, 2016

Most of you will probably be aware that Hayes portrayed the schools Chef (comedically named Chef). Anyway Hayes decided to leave the show, due to his religious scientology beliefs being offended?

Matt Stone (one of the creators of South Park) commented on this incident by saying:

“In 10 years and over 150 episodes of South Park, Isaac never had a problem with the show making fun of Christians, Muslim, Mormons or Jews.

He got a sudden case of religious sensitivity when it was his religion featured on the show.”

Thank goodness. I had to turn the volume down when he starts signing.

A bit hypocritical, but oh well. His choice if he wanted to throw away the only career traction he’d had in decades.

By the time he left, he was inconsequential. His exit forced the show to move in, rather than being stuck in a rut.

Being that it was 10yrs ago, I, like him, have long since moved on.

A truly convicted person would have left the show without stating as to why then donated 100% of the tainted earnings to his cause anonymously.

But hey. We would have never heard about that.
