You can give a per week per month etc., I’ll average it out. What is the period of time that would be too short to count?

By the way, just about healthy enough people. Of course it depends on each person’s medical condition.

I do 15 hours of canoe paddling per week (80% moderate effort and 20% hard red zone effort). Plus 3 to 5 hours of calisthenics per week. Plus 1½ hours of walk/jogging per week.

I paddled a total of 2,143 miles in 2018, and 2,704 miles in 2017 (equivalent distance to paddle from Seattle to many points in Hawaii, in 2016 I paddled 2,293 mies.

I usually paddle between 40 and 60 miles per week.

I use to be a long distance runner for 35 years, but I had to cool it because I developed heart arrhythmias as a result.

I like paddling because it is low impact exercise and is gentle on this aging body (I’m 68).

Other than my heart issue, I have no health problems and am not taking any prescription medications.

Also, There is no amount of excursive time that’s too short to count. It is all good and it all counts.

@gondwanalon That sounds like more than the average. What is the period of time exercising per day, week that would be too small to count?

zenvelo's avatar

The amount that would be too small despite how you use it would be less than seven minutes.

The “Seven Minute Workout”:https://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/05/09/the-scientific-7-minute-workout/ is sufficient if done every day at one’s highest intensity.

.And if You don’t like those exercises, you can run or go for a vigorous walk for ten to fifteen minutes and that is good for your health, too.

But most doctors and fitness experts would recommend a half hour a day at least five times per week.

There is a brand new study, as there will always be, saying 15 minutes a day of any kind of excercise is healthy and promotes longevity.

I used to do 70 to 100 sit ups every day, during commercial breaks on TV, so that would be ~4 or 5 minutes.

Yes. At least it can’t be a single digit number per day, I hope that’s reasonable.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I did my exercise in a single digit time.
