Can caffeine make a difference in morning fatigue or should we not be tired then?

I slept fine last night but tired today; weak. I do as little as I can get away with. I don’t drink caffeine when I wake up. Should I switch to caffeinated coffee? tia

I would suggest you try it once and see how you feel.

Different people seem to react differently to caffeine.

If you drink caffeine at other times, but not in the morning, then I would tend to think (from personal experience with my own body chemistry) that you might be in caffeine withdrawal in the morning, and so then yes, morning coffee could make a huge difference, as it often does for me.

I don’t drink caffeine during the day or night. This could be a matter of the usual advice: exercise, change diet.

I only have coffee with caffeine three times a day , usually first thing in the morning, lunch, and supper. Have been doing this routine for years, just don’t go overboard with stronger coffees and or times a day that one has a cup.
In moderation, they say, is not as harmful.

ok But would caffeine be a way to turn this fatigue around? Could it be that it’s popular because people need it ? And I’m not giving myself what I need?
If I drank caffeinated anything I’d not sleep at night. You’re basically pumping yourself up all day long but you still sleep? Amazing.

@Aster Do not drink anything after 7pm
First thing ( breakfast) I have a coffee and feel awake.
If coffee too strong for you as many have to find the right strength, try a weaker blend or add more water.

I don’t know for sure, but I think caffeine mainly (comes in some tasty beverages and) gives a temporary stimulant effect that can be used to make one more alert (and/or more nervous, for some people) for a while. However it can be mildly addictive and I’ve noticed that (at least eventually, in my case after many years) led to me getting more tired/fatigued/headachey if/when I don’t have it for a while. So I expect it would probably work to pep you up in the mornings, but I don’t know whether it might not come with other disadvantages for you.

Your other notion of solid sleep, good food, and exercise however certainly sounds like a solid thing to do in any case. Maybe try going to bed a couple of hours earlier one night before you try morning coffee/tea.

Thanks @Zaku but I already go to sleep at eight thirty !! And I take a lot of vitamins including D3.

Give it a try. You can start with some half-caf coffee if you are unsure.
That might be enough to give you energy to get you moving.

Have a cup and go clean out a closet.

Sounds like you avoid physical exercise. That is a big mistake. Your body needs regular exercise (and a good diet and rest) in order to achieve and maintain good health. See a doctor and get an expert to help you start exercising.

Caffeine is a drug. You don’t need it and it’s not a substitute for exercise that you need.

To be clear, you don’t drink any caffeine right now. No coffee, no tea, no dark sodas or Mountain Dew, nothing. Is that right?

Usually, it should be better to be caffeine free. Being caffeine free helps AVOID the very fatigued feeling in the morning. But, since you do feel fatigued, you could experiment and try a very small amount of caffeine in the morning to feel better. You could be starting a vicious cycle though. You already are drugging to go to sleep, then you want to use a stimulant to wake you up. Think about it. Not that many Americans don’t do it, but it does have it’s downfalls.

If you are waking up feeling groggy for a long time in the morning, and you are completely caffeine free, I think there is an underlying cause not being addressed, like maybe your sleep isn’t as restful as it should be. Or, some other physical thing, but I think you said previously you went to the doctor and they did basic blood work.
