Ladies: Would you find it hilarious if you thought one of your guy friends was trying to hook up with you, but he was really trying to come out to you?

I don’t understand the question. When you say “come out to you” do you mean he’s trying to tell you he’s gay? If so, I can’t fathom exactly how the 2 can be confused.

I would prefer the direct approach, but I haven’t gone through that process of coming out. I can see how it would be disconcerting for you though.

I can’t even envision the situation.

Would it be funny if I mistook a friend’s attempts to come out as them hitting on me?

Hilarious is NOT the right word. When it happened to me, I was CONFUSED. I was 99.9% sure that he was gay, but there he was making a play. Since I was so sure he was gay, I had NO interest in him or any type of romantic feelings & I was uncomfortable with the situation. Personally, I would have been MORE comfortable with the whole thing IF he had been straight out HONEST (NO pun intended) & just said “you do realize that I’m gay, don’t you?” I never understood why it was so difficult for him to come out to me because at the time I had several close gay friends & I would have thought it should have been a simple process coming out to me…guess it wasn’t!!!

What did he do that left you with the idea he was hitting on you Marissa?

I’ve had gay men use me to test themselves. That is not funny. One hurt me very badly.
Maybe if he had been up front with me…

I said they wanted to test themselves. That has only one meaning I know of. Some gay people don’t want to out, and will try to live hetero.
A couple of times I knew what was going on, but there was one I cared for deeply. Suddenly he was just gone.
