Should I follow the instructions in my Metamucil? (NSFW)

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24473points) February 2nd, 2020

The containers instructions are to take 5 pills 3 times a day.
Different pharmacys say that is too much. My regular pharmacy said to take one at breakfast and one at night.

It worked 30 minutes ago and a family member said to stop taking them.

Who is right?

My regular pharmacy is closed Sunday’s.

I took five last night and five now. It worked and I am no longer constipated.

The nice thing about Metamucil is a great regulator, if you are constipated it works and if have diarrhea it works. It regulates your gut.

Take one in the morning and one at night for now.

I’ve found that taking any kind of bulk laxative is better if you take it throughout the day otherwise it comes out just as it went in: All at once!
Try eating more fiber in your diet. Lots of fruits and vegetables through out the day. Oatmeal for breakfast is a great way to start!
Most people don’t get enough fiber, like 10 to 15 grams a day when you should be getting 20–30 per day.
