How would I know if everyone is ready for the Holidays? I can’t speak for them.

Pleasant response.

No.
As customary in our building decorated my apartment door and that’s it.
No tree inside etc.

Helped decorate outside trees and bushes in old Christmas ornaments donated to the thrift shop.
Since I had my computer hacked ( but restored in one day) and had to rip up my credit card and get a new one mailed out to me as a precaution ( not here yet) and changed my pin on my debit card as well as advised by Fraud investigator of whom I called.

I will not be purchasing gifts online as in the past nor giving/mailing out gifts as theft is rampant at this time of year so will do so later ( Jan/Feb 2021 ) until this all blows over.
Scammers are all over the internet and also online .
My computer was taken over by a so called Microsoft tech advising that I purchase Norton virus protection regardless that I have two years of virus protection from MacAfee antivirus protection plus online remote assistance from Dell computers.
Fortunately I had the bank on the phone who advised me to “x” out online as that tech was texting me, calling my on my phone and advising me what to say to the Bank!
Later after shutting everything off and calling Dell computers the remote assistance corrected it within an hour online.

He advised that “should” this happen in the future to immediately unplug the “ethernet” plug
to stop the scammer from taking over any more info etc.

Meanwhile he go my credit card number and pertinent information through fear mongering and threats.
Scary online.

Damn… that’s my biggest fear is getting hacked by some loser asshole sitting in his moms basement. Hope you get all of that sorted out.

I got my presents and cards ready for my students. On the 20th we will have a feast instead of the usual learning :)

Wondering what kind of presents for kids can be bought with food stamps.

My menorah is out and my candles are ready.

As ready as I can be in this weird year. Shopping is almost done. Decorations are up, but we don’t have a tree yet (going to cut one down on Thursday). Some things are the same as always, but won’t be able to see everyone in person like we usually do.

@Dutchess_III You would be surprised what people can buy with so-called food stamps. Many children would be happy with a bag of “Cuties”, or bananas in their stocking. Most cookies and candies are allowed, as well as ice cream drumsticks and pizza.

gondwanalon's avatar

I’m always ready but never prepared.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Why would being ablebto buy bananas and oranges with food stamps surprise me?
And I’m not looking for stocking stuffers.

Nomore_lockout's avatar

Hmmm…. taking from both of the thoughts above, I may use fruit to stuff stockings this year, as opposed to all that candy like we usually do. By noon on Christmas day they won’t be bouncing off the walls. Good idea.

“Sugar high” is a myth. What they’re actually excited about is the reason for the sugar. Birthday party, Christmas, Easter, whatever.
I was pretty picky about what my kids ate. No sugar cereals. Just corn flakes and Cheerios. Except at Christmas. I had food stamps out the wazoo so they each got a box of sugar cereal nicely wrapped and under the tree. It’s about all they got from me.

Don’t beat yourself up Dutchy, Been there done that. Ya do the best you can that’s all we can do. So I guess I’m back to candy for Christmas stocking stuffers then. All I know is they sure’s hell get hyper about something.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Of course he will! IT’S CHRISTMAS!!!

Nomore_lockout's avatar

Christmas Smhistmas. They are always hyper about something. The two yr old just almost knocked over my lap top stand just a moment ago, running in to give me a hug. But its worth it. Him can beak paw paws lad top if him want to! Yeah, he’s spoiled. Damn mama bear needs to quit doing that.
