The line starts approx half way up the baseline (~45 ft) and it is the path that the runner must stay in when running the bases. Granted, runners will leave the path on doubles or triples when executing the “banana turn”. But the line comes in handy on tag plays down the first baseline. If the runner leaves the path to avoid a tag, the baserunner is to be out. Hopes this helps.
