For those of you who have gone from working outside of the home to working from home due to COVID, how has it been?

Asked by Pied_Pfeffer (28141points) November 1st, 2021

What do you miss?
How was the adjustment?
Would you prefer to go back to the way it was?
What benefits have there been, if any?

I worked from home from March 2020 to June 2021 – working a few half days in the office from June 2020 to June 2021. I loved working at home. I loved not having the stressful one hour ride each way. I loved not having to pay for gas as much and not having wear and tear on my car. I loved not seeing my coworkers, even though I didn’t dislike them. When my boss lost her bid for re-election, I chose to retire, rather than be at the mercy of a new supervisor in a new department. I’m now happily retired.

I’ve been working at home since March 2020 also and most days I love it. The first few months were the most difficult, looking back.
I miss some coworkers and socialization but online meetings are feeling more normal now.
I don’t miss the commute, the traffic jams or driving in poor weather.

I’ve saved on gas, barely drive through the week, less vehicle maintenance.
I’ve kept off 15lbs not having work lunches.
My stress level is down about 60%.
My dogs love having me home but sleep while I work.
It’s nice to do laundry or straighten up through the week, too.

As far as going back, I would prefer not to.

If a person tends to depression or is an extrovert who needs interaction, it could be tough.
