Any acting fans out there?

Asked by Foolaholic (5804points) September 15th, 2008

I need to find the script for a short scene for my acting class. The only parameters are that it needs to run between 5–10 minutes and have 3 characters. Any suggestions?

Any script? You can take an excerpt from George Bernard Shaw’s Candida. The last scenes between Marchbanks, Candida, and Rev. Morrell would be perfect. They’re beautiful.

It’s been a while since I was involved in acting, so I can’t think of anything off the top of my head..

What I’ve done in the past is go to a bookstore or library and browse the drama/acting section. There are plenty of books that have short scenes in them for different numbers of actors. Flip through and see if you find any you like, or that you think you could enjoy doing. Then, I would come home and try to find it on the internet or borrow the book from the library, if possible.

Check out “Dramatics” magazine, from the ETA—they have a new, short play every month, usually by an unknown ( but up-and-coming!) author and they may have exactly what you’re looking for.

Try some Harold Pinter. Good characters, interesting text, scenes would work well out of context… The Lover, The Birthday Party, etc…
