Do you think my bird is safe?

Asked by KRD (5259points) April 11th, 2022

We have a chicken with cataracts and we feel for him. He’s our family pet. With the bird flu outbreak we haven’t brought any birds from our other flocks and I feel that if the bird flu is detected and the CDC find him I think they will kill him even if he hasn’t been infected. Do you think they will kill him even if he hasn’t been outside for awhile?

Chickens are vicious creatures from the get go!!! I’d think that the cataracts are enough to make him vulnerable to their attacks. I’d keep him away from them for a while…just in case!!!

I doubt anyone is coming after your single chicken. Control efforts are most likely concentrated on commercial operations.

Who is “they” and how would “they” even know you had a chicken living in your house?

Depends on what country you are in.
If your chicken is in danger from the health authorities, I would hide the chicken and lie about having the chicken.

@HP I fixed it.
