What is the best way to clean a screen on a Macbook?

Asked by queenzboulevard (2551points) October 1st, 2008

I haven’t bought iKlear, which is supposed to be the best, and when I try to use anything else (nothing with ammonia or alcohol of course) it just smears the screen when I wipe it. Suggestions?

Water. Nothing else. Use a non-abrasive cloth. I believe coffee filters do the best job unless you have an eyeglass cleaner. Just what I’ve used for the last 15 years.

Go to an optometrist and ask for some lens cleaner and a lens cleaning cloth. Most places will give it to you for free if you’re a customer there. Spray the cleaner on to the cloth and use that to clean the screen. DON’T spray it directly on the screen!

iKlear is supposed to be the best. Apart from that, I would go with water. I don’t trust many other chemicals.

I use Monster LCD screen cleaner with a micro fiber cloth…I use it on any electronics I have.

I use water, because it works and doesn’t cost anything…

Getting hold of a ‘microfibre’ cloth, like one used for reading glasses, is also a bonus.

I second iClear. Works great!

Now that I think of it, mine needs a good spray…
