"Western" medicine or "alternative" medicine?

Asked by Celeste00 (786points) October 6th, 2008

I have always leaned towards staying away from “western” medicine as much as I could, since medications I was given in the past often made more damage than good. Where do you stand and why?

Depends on the medical conditon, but I would explore whatever was out there. You have to be your own advocate, which is easier to do now with the internet.

Exclusively one or the other is probably not a sensible approach. Also, if you elect alternative medicine, you need to bring to it the same rigor of thought and skepticism that you would to any Western medicine drug.

Everything else, I left in the thread GC referenced.
