Do you dust or vacuum first?

Asked by SuperMouse (30845points) October 11th, 2008

I was told long ago that vacuuming kicks up dust, so I always vacuum first.

Dust. Then vacuum. Although you might be right about vacuuming kicking up dust—but it should be clean dust.

dust first, it seems to feel cleaner that way for me. ;0

I vacuumed first today and then dusted. :-)

When I dust I do that first. Often, I don’t bother and just skip to the vacuuming. I can be pretty lazy at times.

Dust first.

When I say “at times”, I mean “at all times”.

This has always been a “irk” point with me and my husband. I say dust first and then vacuum. He says vacuum first because it causes dust. But then you would have to vacuum again after dusting. Which would kick up more dirt and dust. So you would have to dust again. And on and on.

Anyway, I’m going to dust first and then vacuum.

Work from the top down. Dust first, from the ceiling down.

I’ll ask the maids what they do the next time they come by ;-)

Me, too. Well, that and cigarettes.

We have a central vacuum system in my apartment (holes in the wall with suction) which means no dust will be kicked around with the air blower in the normal vacuum cleaner. Thus dusting first from top to bottom then vacuuming makes it clean at home for me!

“but it should be clean dust.”?????????????

My personal position is to do as little as possible with respect to both.
