Holy crap, will The Rays blow a 7-0 lead?

Asked by rawpixels (2668points) October 16th, 2008

They already gave up 6 runs to Boston late. This would absolutely kill the Ray’s confidence. As a Yankee fan, please Red Sox, just give up. :)

Isn’t it wonderful!!!!

Go Sox!

critter1982's avatar

It’s painful to watch….Either way lets go Phils!! :)

wundayatta's avatar

I really want a Phillies/Sox Series. And I want the Phillies to win, even though the Sox are my team from childhood.

wundayatta's avatar

Woo hoo! An error. Runner in scoring position!

critter1982's avatar

2 outs though

wundayatta's avatar

Lots can happen, so long as you don’t have a third out!

Nimis's avatar

Dal: What?! You want the Phillies to win?

Nimis's avatar

Whooooohoooooooooooooo!!
(That would be, officially, yes to the question.)

critter1982's avatar

You were right. Yes I want the Phillies to win….I’ve wanted them to win my whole life. I’ve been waiting 26 years.

Nimis's avatar

Crit: Yes, but you are a Phillies fan.
So I forgive you. ;)

wundayatta's avatar

I’m a Phillies fan now, since they’re the only team I see. Been to more of their games than the Sox.

wundayatta's avatar

So, does this totally derail the Ray’s confidence? Will they feel snakebit by the Sox’ ability to come back?

critter1982's avatar

Nah. The last game was stolen from the Sox and they came back this game. Rays will be fine, unless of course the Red Sox come through and play really well. It’s late, time to go to bed. Congrats to you daloon.

Guys, I’m pretty sure the season is over already.
Both NY teams finished up last month, let’s just focus on next year, shall we?

wundayatta's avatar

@fireside: you can’t seriously call either of those garden clubs teams, can you?

fireside's avatar

lol, no, not so much this year.

Nimis's avatar

Is anyone watching the post game?
Who the heck just asked that last question?

PrancingUrchin's avatar

Postgame is an affirmative. Lurve to all Sox fans. I am probably the reason why a lot of people hate Red Sox fans. I’m sorry. I can’t help it. Go Sox. This next game (hopefully two games) should be really fun as long as Upton and Longoria quit hitting dingers.

WOOHOO! I went to bed when it was 7–0 because I couldn’t want Carlos Pena hit another home run! Well, I didn’t miss that…but I missed the greatest comeback in postseason history??? Geesh. My husband and son were at the game. I haven’t talked to them yet, but I bet it was a blast to be there for that. :0) GO SOX!!!

Mugsie's avatar

Dito ~ “GO RED SOX” you rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rawpixels's avatar

Woo hoo, Go Rays!!!

wundayatta's avatar

Congratulations to the Rays!

Mugsie's avatar

My coffee is all watered down due to tears COL!

Congrats to the Rays…...

autumn43's avatar

If we were going to lose – sniff – I would much rather it be to the Rays. It was a great series. I can now cheer for the underdog in the World Series. Go Rays!

wundayatta's avatar

Uh, the Rays are the underdog? I think not. They won more games, and have more power in their line-up, and great pitching. Seems to me that the Phillies are the underdog.

critter1982's avatar

Either way, Let’s GO PHILS!

autumn43's avatar

daloon – I meant coming into this year being the worst team. I didn’t exactly say that the way I meant it…geesh!

wundayatta's avatar

@autumn, who are you for? Rays or Phillies?

autumn43's avatar

The Rays! Are you trying to rub it in that Red Sox didn’t make it? I’m having a tough day getting over that. LOL! (I would always root for the American League anyway).

Mugsie's avatar

I too am sad about the “SOX”, but now that they are out of it I hope the “RAYS” do well.

wundayatta's avatar

I don’t blame you. It was very hard for me to switch. But it’s no problem against the Rays. Go Phillies! Against the Sox, I’d be ok with anyone winning.

amandaafoote's avatar

PHILLIES WON! :D

autumn43's avatar

Congrats to the Phillies. I’m happy for them because they hadn’t won in so long. I was rooting for the Rays – I like the local kid (to me) Carlos Pena (who was on the Red Sox at one point!)

All in all though, I didn’t get into it as much. Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are the hardest guys to listen to. And the rain delays were ridiculous. They should have never started game 5 knowing what the forecast was. And what about blown calls by the umps? Oh well.

Onto spring training!
