Why do some people have bright red faces after they do physical activity?

Asked by The_Inquisitor (3163points) October 20th, 2008

Randomly, I was thinking about why only some people have bright red faces after they do some physical activity. Is it because they pushed themselves too hard?... or does it have something to do with their blood pressure? (haha.. dunno if the blood pressure one made any sense, but I heard of that from somewhere before)

Or they might have rosacea like I do….....

I am not actually sure if the Rosacea (mine is not that bad) causes the red face, but my face will be red for a really long time after a run….not so much with lower impact exercise like biking even though I bike for hours and hours at a time…...

Some people have thinner skin than others and their blood vessels are exposed more in hot/cold/strenuous excercise environments.

For me it is part of the whole fair skin thing. My whole family turns beet red with not very much exertion and my siblings and I have all been like that since childhood. It is not pretty. Also, people have tendency to think we are about to keel over, which is not the case.

It is because of the increased oxygen intake during exercise and blood circulation. You are pumping your body!
