by getting bored and unsatisfied with the results of “no I can’t”

@TaoSan – I agree so many times in life success has come to me because I didn’t mind failing. Once I just did it I had better results. I had to empty my mind of doubt and just do.

Thank you for responding.

From Annie Get Your Gun

Maybe redefine “success” and “failure.” Perhaps you are setting the wrong goals. The can-do attitude needs to be connected to something you can do.

@gailcalled, yes I understand. The question came to me because so many people around me have said I wanted to do this or I would like to do that and I thought why haven’t you? If you truly want to do something and you put time and energy into it and if you have the skill why not? I believe sometimes what may stop someone is their thoughts of winning or losing or as you said failure. If we can get rid of the idea that we may fail then all of our attempts are a success.

Thomas Edison said If we all did the things we are really capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves….

Many times what stops me is money. I don’t have money to buy stuff that would be used for things I want to do.

GAMBIT's avatar

@nexstar5 – yes that stops me also.

i think what stops me from achieving what i want is my confidence. I am working on it. Sometimes i just tell myself ..F***IT and move my ass and do what i am suppose to do without caring what other ppl thinks. I am just too concious on what people think of me. I become too careful and unable to speak out my mind.

@mea05key – when my children are having trouble with their school work I always tell them nothing beats a failure but a try.

I have found in my own life my invalid perceived thoughts of an outcome have stopped me from reaching some of my goals. Which is strange because as a child and young adult I was fearless but then the stakes weren’t as high and the prizes weren’t as fulfilling.

It seems instead of loosing big. I have chosen not to play at all.

Thanks for sharing with me.

I am quite lazy and lack self-discipline. I’m trying to kick the habit, though!

Plagiarize plagiarize that’s why the good lord made your eyes. So go ahead and shade your eyes, and plagairize plagairize plagiarize, but don’t forget to call it researh!

^^ Since you seem to have so much free time, don’t forget to give attribution to Tom Lehrer’s Lobachevsky, lest we might think that amurican is original, creative or remotely amusing.

@Gambit

Exactly, there is no recipe, strategy or anything like that. If the now isn’t good, you gotta change it. No one will do that for you.
