Help! What kind of vacuum cleaner should I buy?

Asked by SoapChef (2978points) November 23rd, 2008

I have spent all day taking apart and putting back together my (two year old) vacuum and it still isn’t working. I have resigned myself to buying a new one. Any recommendations?

Alright all you moneybags, why should I spend the money on a Dyson? Is it really that much better? How about stairs? Is it easy to haul up and down? DO the hose attachments work well?
Cute avatar cd.

I love mine becuase it never clogs, it’s super easy to clean, and it’s the only vacuum I’ve ever had that can vacuum my shag carpet without blowing up. The hose attachments are really smartly designed.

The one I have is big. But the smaller ball one might really work for you.

I vacuumed with my old vac then used the Dyson. it looked like I had my carpets cleaned. I didn’t realize how dirty my carpet was. The wand could be better though, it works, but it’s a little awkward.

Thanks all. I am tired of buying new vacuums every couple of years so I am thinking about the Dyson. I don’t have the luxury of spending too much time making a decision, my house has got to look spiffy before Thursday.

My Vibe works really well. It’s pretty cheap and I don’t know how it will hold over the years as it is fairly new, but I love it. Vacuums are a serious issue with me because I have Hair. Lots of it. It’s long, it falls out swiftly, and I need a vac that won’t blog ridiculously quickly. The Vibe seems to work so far. I’m happy with it, but I’ve only had it six months, so if you have the cash, I’ve always heard Dysons are a little slice of heaven. But if you don’t, I like my Vibe.

I went down and stood in front of the vacuums for about ten minutes. I just couldn’t spend the money on the Dyson. I ended up with nothing so far and borrowed one for now.Empress I have the hair issue too! Its hard on vacuums!

Use your Bed Bath and Beyond 15% off coupon. I think I’m going to buy one for my daughter for Christmas and that’s how I’m going to do it. She has the hair thing too.

I am sad to report that my Hoover died today (awwwwwwwwww).

As luck would have it, Costco had the Dyson DC14 Animal on sale.

I agree SoapChef, it is obscenely expensive. The nice thing about Costco is that if I don’t like it…they have a liberal return policy.

Snoopy, you won’t just like it – you will have genuine love for your Dyson!
