How can I convert an *.H264 video file in a Matruska container to play on OS X?

Install Perian
Open the MKV in QuickTime Player
In Movie Properties, remove any unneeded tracks (subtitles, alternate audio, etc)
Save as a self-contained movie
Toss the MKV
