Probably when that giant freaking rock hit the earth in the Gulf of Mexico and made the dinosaurs go bye-bye.

Big Bang doesn’t count, no one was around to hear it. :)

A fuel bomb. Hands down.

Or maybe if we’re talking, heard by humans I’d say Tunguska. Or, Tsar Bomba.

We sat through Cyclone Monica a few years ago here in Kakadu. That was LOUD!

My Mother, when I was much younger, and came home very late, with the wrong boy, after drinking too much.

Silence – When a force is so loud you can no longer hear.

*** Some say when “Kracatoa” erupted. Although it probably was the perverbial initial “Big Bang”, of which is still resonating as we live, [and listen]. The enunciated “first word”. yet, with all the cosmic contents about, perhaps it was an uncontrolled sneeze. did you get that?

The loudest sound I ever heard was when I was a kid.

There was an electrical transformer station at the end of the block.

Some kids hopped the fence and were throwing metal coat hangers at the machinery.

Well they hit something and BANG!

Windows broke, houses shook. I was riding my bike nearby and fell off of it.

The kids were knocked unconcious.

cprevite: I’ll just bet those kids heard some even louder noises when their parents found out what they had done!

@bythebay: Oh I’m sure. Assuming they weren’t brain damaged.
