C:/Windows/System32/igfxres.dll cannot be run on Windows?

Asked by queenzboulevard (2551points) January 3rd, 2009

This dialogue comes up each time I log into my account on Vista. I have to click OK four or five times to get the dialogue to go away. This igfxres.dll is an Application Extention. If I delete it will this dialogue go away or will it mess up this computer?

This is a brand new Dell inspiron 1525. Any ideas on what I should do?

It has to do with the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator for Mobile. When I right click the tray icon, the dialogue comes up. This is the exact dialogue:

*C:\WINDOWS\System32\igfxres.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or
it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original
installation media or contact your system administrator or the software
vendor for support.*

This isn’t my laptop, it belongs to my uncle so I’m a little hesitant to change anything or delete things lol.
